Sporting events can be classified according to various criteria. Different authors define the qualifications of professional sporting events differently. The main objective is to organise a sports event that attracts not only participants, but also spectators, which is also greatly influenced by the image and specificity of the event), which will attract as many spectators as possible. 2. The literature analysis can highlight the main factors that determine the attendance of spectators at sporting events: economic, demographic, communication and sporting factors. These are factoring that sports event/tournament organisers should take into account in order to attract as many spectators as possible. 3. The results showed that the factors determining the attendance of spectators at a sporting event are proper planning, setting goals and targets, a well-balanced budget, and the delegation of specific responsibilities. The right date of the event, the number of participants, the number of interesting duels between the participants of the tournament is also very important. Respondents say that for them, one of the most important factors in attending a sports tournament is representativeness. Factors that prove the success of the event include the achievement of goals, positive feedback from the participants of the event, the number of spectators, the achievements of the teams (e.g. a busy place in the tournament). The results of the study show the identified factors determining the attendance of spectators of a sporting event, which are important in order to get as many spectators as possible at the event. 4. The attendance of sporting events is determined by different factors depending on the sport and the conduct of the event organization in a given region. Factors controlled by the organizers of professional basketball events are less determined than in the attendance of other professional team sports events. This is due to other economic factors beyond the control of the organisers – modern infrastructure and sports factors – high sports level and victories. The factors of opinion of the surveyed spectators, which determine the attendance of sporting events and the decision to participate in the sporting event are most affected by sporting factors, such as the appearance of favorite teams or favorite players at a sporting event.
